Body-oriented hypnotherapy, which is based on sound principles about emotions and trauma from the fields of psychology, hypnotherapy and various somatic psychotherapies, can be extremely effective in healing trauma and issues with preverbal roots as well as working with clients who cannot verbalise their feelings or do not want to tell their stories. This article provides a theoretical understanding of how body-oriented hypnotherapy works, evidence for its effectiveness, instructions for doing it, and contraindications for its use.
