Larzelere, a retired Coast Guard captain who during his career commanded five Coast Guard cutters, including two 82foot patrol boats during the Vietnam War, and later served as chief of search and rescue in Miami, among other assignments, presents an illuminating and much-needed history of Coast Guard operations during the Vietnam War. Larzelere describes the role the Coast Guard played in combat operations, often fighting side by side with the Navy and Marine Corps, along Vietnam's coasts and on the rivers and canals of the Mekong Delta. ...
