Article: Canadian Inventors Develop Automatic Gain Control Algorithm

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 6 -- Mehdi Tavassoli Kilani of Mississauga, Canada, and Ayal Shoval of Thornhill, Canada, have developed an automatic gain control algorithmic method.

According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An adaptation process for automatic gain control is adapted to obtains the statistical characteristics of the received signal to estimate the input signal power level. The estimated input signal power level is used to adjust the gain of a variable gain amplifier for the automatic gain control."

The inventors were issued U.S. Patent No. 7,277,510 on Oct. 2.

The patent has been assigned to Maxim Integrated Products Inc., Sunnyvale, Calif.
