The United States Department of Energy will host a commemoration event on Wednesday, September 12, to recognize 60 years of leadership in science and technology, national security, nuclear energy, and most recently, environmental management by federal and contractor staff based in Oak Ridge.

The Oak Ridge Office (ORO) was established on September 15, 1947, by the United States Atomic Energy Commission.
