Article: Ridley Scott's 'Blade Runner' inspired by Brit town's filth

London, Oct. 8 -- Sir Ridley Scott based his grim depiction of the 21st century in his film 'Blade Runner' on Brit town Hartlepool's "filthy" industrial landscape.

The 1982 film starring Harrison Ford is regarded as a sci-fi classic.

Scott, who went to art school in Hartlepool reveals that he imagined what Los Angeles would look in 2019 by using his memory of the belching steel plants and chemical works in the Brit city.
