The National Railroad Passenger Corp. (Amtrak) issued the following press release:
Amtrak is pleased to announce that members of its frequent traveler program, Amtrak Guest Rewards, now have the option of redeeming points online for travel. Through Amtrak.com or Amtrakguestrewards.com, members may redeem points for direct point-to-point travel on most Amtrak routes nationwide.
Points may be redeemed online for one-way trips with no transfers. Two reservations are needed for a roundtrip. For more complicated travel itineraries such as those that include sleeping accommodations and travel on the Auto Train, members should continue to call the Amtrak Guest Rewards Call Center for redemption. ...
