In an effort to make energy efficient appliances more affordable, Rep. Mike Ferguson, R-N.J., on Monday announced he has introduced legislation to provide a 25 percent tax credit for consumers who purchase government-rated Energy Star clothes washers.
Energy Star is a joint program of the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy to help consumers save money and protect the environment. Energy Star is a voluntary labeling program designed to aid consumers in identifying energy-efficient products that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
