Article: Linking organics generators, haulers and farms

IN October, 1996, the Center for Ecological Technology (CET) in Pittsfield, Massachusetts launched an On-Farm Composting Demonstration Project with the aim of creating a sustainable market-based system for on-farm composting of both commercial and farm organics. According to Mark Wightman of CET, a major task was to "develop the necessary connections and infrastructure for participants to succeed." To that end, CET contacted farmers, generators and haulers and has been working with participants depending on individual needs.
