The New Mexico Department of Tourism issued the following news release:

If only those hardy souls that traveled the Santa Fe Trail in its heyday more than a century ago had been so fortunate.

In Raton recently, members of the New Mexico Santa Fe Trail National Scenic Byway Alliance cut the ribbon on Second Street to commemorate the installation of Santa Fe Trail National Scenic Byway and America's Byways signs along the historic Santa Fe Trail in New Mexico.

The Alliance was joined by officials and ambassadors of the Raton Chamber and Economic Development Council, Colfax County Commissioner Jim Maldanado, and Laurie Frantz, program manager for the Scenic Byways of the New Mexico Tourism ...
