The Florida Department of Military Affairs issued the following news release:

Heating and cooling account for approximately 56 percent of the energy used in a typical U.S. home, according to the United States Department of Energy, so when it comes to conserving energy, the Florida Department of Military Affairs and Florida National Guard faces the same challenges that both Florida residents and government agencies confront. Florida's state agency power consumption really ramps up in March and continues through November because of facility cooling needs.
