The Environmental Protection Agency Region 9 office issued the following news release:
In conjunction with National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week and Children's Health Month, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently awarded $221,860 in federal grant funds to local agencies in the City of South San Francisco, Santa Cruz County, and San Joaquin County to assist national efforts on preventing childhood lead poisoning.
Young children are particularly susceptible to lead poisoning since they are more likely to ingest lead paint chips, flakes, or dust and are more sensitive to the adverse health effects of lead. Elevated blood lead levels in young children can trigger learning ...
