Article: GRANT HELPS RENO FIRE DEPARTMENT'S URBAN SEARCH & RESCUE TEAM EXPAND COMMUNICATIONS CAPABILITIES

The city of Reno issued the following news release:

A $7,655.00 grant to purchase portable radios approved by the Reno City Council Wednesday will help expand the communications capabilities of the Reno Fire Department's Urban Search and Rescue Team (USAR).

The grant is being made through the Local Emergency Planning Commission (LEPC) for Nevada State Emergency Response Commission (SERC) "United We Stand" funds to purchase five portable, field programmable Bendix King digital radios and accessories that can be used by the USAR team in the event of a large scale incident requiring the participation of federal or other cooperators who may lack the ability to communicate on the Reno Fire ...
