Once principally known as a steel town, Pittsburgh is fast becoming known for the medical and technological industries. But for local hip-hop artists (and musicians in general) seeking to get signed to a major label, you usually have to go to New York, Atlanta or Los Angeles.
Now Pittsburgh hip-hop artists are starting to bridge the gap and make enough noise as independent artists to get the attention of international audiences and major label executives. Over the past month Pittsburgh Slim and Jasiri X have become the topic of national and international discussion.
