One of the advantages of these "open forum" columns written by the automakers is the ability to reveal, on a timely basis and whenever possible, the future of police vehicles to the nation's police fleet managers. The topic at hand is the upcoming change to the vehicle safety and crash-worthiness requirements that will soon utilize side-curtain airbags in all vehicles sold in the U.S.
First, it is important to understand what and who is fueling this change.
