Article: Court admits appeals against Amit Jogi acquittal

Raipur, Oct. 30 -- The Chhattisgarh High Court has admitted appeals against the acquittal of Congress MP and former chief minister Ajit Jogi's son Amit Jogi in the case of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ramavatar Jaggi's murder and has set Feb 4, 2008 as the date for the final hearing.

A district and sessions court on May 31 this year acquitted Amit of charges of murdering Jaggi who was gunned down on June 4, 2003 in the heart of Raipur when Jogi was the chief minister.

The court had convicted 28 others and awarded life imprisonment to 19 of them who were close associates of Jogi's 30-year-old son.
