Rep. Christopher Shays, R-Conn. (4th CD), issued the following news release:
Congressman Christopher Shays (CT-4) voted for H.R. 1955, the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act, which passed the House Tuesday by a vote of 404 to 6. The legislation creates a 10-member National Commission, modeled after the 9/11 Commission, to study the roots of homegrown terrorism in the United States.
Mr. Shays submitted the following statement:
Madam Speaker, I rise in support of H.R. 1955, the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act, which I refer to as the Harman-Reichert bill. I appreciate that they have worked so well together on a bipartisan basis.
