Rhode Island State Police issued the following news release:
A promotion and awards ceremony was held at Rhode Island College on Monday, November 5, 2007. Twenty-six troopers, who were promoted over the past two years to the ranks of Corporal, Sergeant, and Lieutenant, were recognized in this ceremony. Eleven troopers, two police officers from the Glocester Police Department, one police officer from the New Shoreham Police Department, and two private citizens received special commendations and awards. Governor Donald Carcieri and Colonel Brendan P. Doherty, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police, made the presentations.
