The South Carolina Department of Education issued the following news release:

Twenty-four individuals and organizations will be recognized Wednesday for their contributions to South Carolina's public education system.

The State Board of Education will honor these volunteers at 9:30 a.m. at its meeting in Room 105 of the Gressette Office Building.

"Hundreds of students' lives have been positively changed by those we are saluting this year," said State Superintendent of Education Jim Rex. "Their stories are inspiring. They remind us that everyone has a role to play in ensuring that our young people are successful and in building schools that are second to none."
