Thomas, creator of the Eden Alternative and Green House program to change the culture of nursing home care, was recently published in a new paperback edition. A Harvard-trained physician, who was named one of America's Best Leaders by U.S. News and World Report, Thomas is also the author of In the Arms of Elders: A Parable of Wise Leadership and Community Building. Both books are published by VanderWyk and Burnham of Acton, Mass., which extended permission to Aging Today to print the following excerpt.
