Article: BERGEN COUNTY EXECUTIVE MCNERNEY OPPOSES 'CONGESTION PRICING' PROPOSAL

The Bergen County Executive issued the following press release:

Bergen County Executive Dennis McNerney today called New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey traffic alleviation plans a 'commuter tax' that would severely hurt Bergen County commuters.

The proposal is an attempt to force more commuters to use mass transit in order to reduce roadway congestion by charging drivers an $8.00 fee when they drive into parts of Manhattan during weekdays at peak hours and charging drivers a toll at bridge and tunnel crossings when leaving the city.
