Article: ESTONIA: PRIME MINISTER ANSIP - INEQUALITY IN ESTONIA IS DECREASING

The office of the Prime Minister issued the following news release:

At the meeting with the members of the American Chamber of Commerce Estonia, Prime Minister Andrus Ansip introduced the general social and economic situation in Estonia and spoke about the main objectives of the Government during the commenced governance period.

The Prime Minister confirmed that the Estonian Government will continue to implement a strict budgetary policy. "The debt of the Estonian government sector is only 3.7% of the GDP and will decrease to 2.7% by year's end. The surplus of the state budget in 2006 was 3.8% of GDP. Those figures are among the best in Europe," Ansip said.
