Article: No Time to Lose in Physical Education Class

The National Association for Sport and Physical Education issued the following news release:

Reston, VA, -- A recently released Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study shows that while the great majority of schools do provide physical education, the amount of class minutes per week in most schools does not meet national recommendations. The National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE), which has set the standard for the physical education profession for over 32 years, recommends at least 150 minutes per week of instructional physical education for elementary school students and 225 minutes for middle and high school students.
