Article: STATE SHOULD PICK UP TAB FOR CRIME SCENE CLEANUP

The Kansas attorney general issued the following column:

During my career as a prosecutor, I have seen first-hand the tragedy involved with violent crime. Often, the violence and brutality of the crime can be measured by the amount of bloodshed and debris left at the scene.

In Kansas, the cost of a crime scene cleanup is left to the victim or their family. This is a financial drain no one should have to face during such a difficult time. The responsibility of cleaning a crime scene only adds to the amount of stress felt by the people involved. I believe my office can help ease this burden for victim's families.
