Article: COAST GUARD, AGENCY PARTNERS TO ENFORCE KAHULUI SECURITY ZONE

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's U.S. Coast Guard, 14th District, issued the following press release:

The U.S. Coast Guard, along with federal, state and county law enforcement agency partners, will enforce both a moving and a fixed security zone during transits of the Hawaii Superferry, the Alakai, to Kahului, Maui, beginning Dec. 6.

These security zones are necessary to provide a safe and secure environment for the citizens of Maui, the Alakai and the Alakai's crew and passengers.

The moving security zone extends 100 yards around the Alakai and is activated whenever the Alakai is anywhere within three nautical miles of the Kahului Harbor entrance. This zone moves with the vessel ...
