GUWAHATI, Nov. 29 -- While the media is a potent tool for effecting development and moulding public opinion, in recent times some unhealthy trends have set into this powerful medium of mass communication. One such undesirable trend is the media's obsession with depiction of violence, often crossing the limits of decency. Blood and gore have become a predominant theme with our media, often tending to feed the audience with an overdose of violence dealt in graphic details. Needless to say, such mindless portrayal of violence is not conducive to the growth of a civilized society. This also causes a disturbing impact on children. ...
