Women NGOs deplore muted reaction to attack on women

New Delhi, Dec. 6 -- An umbrella organisation of women's groups Thursday lambasted members of parliament and politicians for failing to take proper note of the repeated targeting of women in any attack, as witnessed in West Bengal's Nandigram and Assam.

The president of WomenPowerConnect (WPC) Ranjana Kumari said that it was a matter of deep concern that women were becoming targets for all kinds of attack.

She was referring to the stripping and beating up of a tribal woman in Assam and the reported rapes by political workers in Nandigram.
