Article: RP, Spain tie up for biofuel, finance

The Philippines and Spain have forged two agreements that will open new windows of cooperation in the fields of biofuels production and micro-financing, the agriculture department announced in a statement.

The contracts were formalized on December 1 in Madrid and marked a milestone in the field of agricultural cooperation between the two countries, Agriculture Secretary Arthur C. Yap said.

This was the first time the Philippine government had signed a memorandum of agreement on agriculture and fisheries with Spain. The Department of Agriculture's Spanish counterpart, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, signed the contract.
