THE Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) on Sunday said it will continue to pursue a compromise deal with Eduardo Cojuangco over the contested San Miguel Corp. shares, and the agency will appeal the recent antigraft court decision.
Government has been arguing that Cojuangco illegally acquired those shares using funds from the coconut levy during the term of his friend, the late President Ferdinand Marcos.
PCGG Chairman Camilo Sabio clarified it is the coconut farmers who are pursuing the settlement and not the commission. They are merely acting as a go-between so that the case would be resolved quickly, he added.
