ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 18 -- Keith Edward James Blodgett of Milford, Ohio, Kevin Sean Early of Oregonia, Ohio, William Andrew Bailey of Cincinnati, Kenneth Daniel Price of Hamilton, Ohio, and Steven Martens of Ballston Lake, N.Y., have developed a sinuous chevron exhaust nozzle.
According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A gas turbine engine exhaust nozzle includes a row of laterally sinuous chevrons extending from an aft end of an exhaust duct. The chevrons have radially outer and inner surfaces bound by a laterally sinuous trailing edge extending between a base of the chevrons adjoining the duct and an axially opposite apex of the chevrons.
