The editor of this edition of Transfusion Reactions has elicited contributions from eminent authors who have updated the spectrum of potential problems associated with the transfusion of blood components. However, noticeably omitted is a discussion on transfusion-transmitted viral infections and transfusion-associated immunosuppression. Notwithstanding these omissions in the context of a comprehensive treatise on transfusion-related complications, this book is a good reference for the other significant transfusion reactions.
