Rep. Todd Tiahrt, R-Kan. (4th CD), issued the following statement: U.S. Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R-Goddard) today issued the following statement condemning comments reportedly made by Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.) that the 1998 federal ban of public money used to provide clean needles to drug addicts has contributed to Washington's high AIDS rate.
"The erroneous notion that the ban on taxpayer money being used for a needle exchange program in the District has somehow contributed to Washington's high HIV/AIDS rate is egregiously wrong," said Tiahrt.
