It is an extraordinary life story. John Moray Stuart-Young known to Nigerians as "Odeziaku" (arranger, manager or keeper of wealth) began life as plain John James Young in 1881 in working-class Manchester. At the age of 18 he was an accomplished forger, using his ill-gotten gains to fund a double life furnished with the appurtenances and habits of a middle class intellectual.
