EUROPEAN AFRICANA LIBRARIANS' DAY AT LEIDEN, 10 JULY 2007

A meeting for Africana Librarians' Day was held in Leiden on 10 July 2007, the day before the opening of the AEGIS European African Studies Conference. Organised by SCOLMA and the Afrika- Studiecentrum, it attracted 42 participants from ten European countries and several American observers.

The day opened with academic presentations on colonial legacies and European libraries and archives. Representatives of Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK gave presentations on Africana libraries and resources in their own countries.
