Article: Taiwanese Inventors Develop Air-Isolator Fume Hood

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 21 -- Rong Fung Huang, Hung-Ta Chen and Yi-Ta Wu, all from Taipei, Taiwan, Tung-Sheng Shih, Cheng-Ping Chang and Chun-Wan Chen, all from Shijr, Taiwan, and Yu-Kang Chen of Tainan County, Taiwan, have developed a fume hood.

According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention is a fume hood capable of exhausting contaminant, having an air pipe in a sash and a suction slot corresponding to the air pipe deposed at the front rim of the bottom surface to obtain an air curtain, where contaminant is efficiently prevented from leakage and energy is saved."

The inventors were issued U.S. Patent No. 7,318,771 on Jan. 15.
