Abstract
This article is an overview of the principal accomplishments of the research program known as the "Sénégal 2000 project," which undertook an examination and analysis of Senegalese state and society at the dawn of the new century. A team of social scientists and historians of different generations, nationalities, and disciplinary backgrounds worked together over a period of years to produce an impressive series of works, presented mostly in the form of edited volumes published by CODESRIA Editions Karthala, on Senegalese economy, politics, culture, and society.
