Rev. Al Sharpton, a New York-based minister and head of the National Action Network, wants Chicagoans - from Mayor Richard M. Daley to the man on the street - to believe he has enough sway with the International Olympic Committee to thwart the city's bid to host the 2016 Summer Games. Talk about holiday humor.
Sharpton is either ignoring or unaware of the adage "all politics is local." And because he isn't local, Sharpton is not getting good advice about the movement Daley and the City Council is making to shake up the Chicago Police Department.
