THE Armed Forces (AFP) leadership on Saturday said that there's no need for the military to maintain a watch list of personalities critical of government, including journalists.
The AFP Chief, General Hermogenes Esperon Jr., said that media practitioners can and only be placed under watch if they are suspected to be engaged in or doing espionage work.
"So far, nobody is doing that so we don't have to put anybody under a watch list. We don't have to watch you at all," Esperon told defense reporters in a phone-patched briefing.
The military top brass made these remarks following reports that a unit of the Philippine National Police (PNP) is preparing a watch list.
