The Michigan Department of Natural Resources issued the following news release:
Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officer John Jurcich was named the 2007 Conservation Officer of the Year at last week's Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing. The honor is bestowed annually by the Shikar-Safari Club International, a wildlife conservation organization.
Jurcich is an 18-year veteran of the DNR's Law Enforcement Division. Before becoming a conservation officer in 1989, Jurcich served as a police officer for 12 years with the Van Buren Township Police Department, and as a sheriff deputy for the Livingston County Sheriff's Department for two years.
