Article: Brazilian Inventor Develops Juice Extractor with Moveable Extractor Cup

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 18 -- Luiz Fernando da Cruz Baptista of Araraquara, Brazil, has developed a juice extractor.

According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A juice extractor includes at least one pair of extractor cups being relatively moveable for compressing fruit therebetween. A drive mechanism engages at least one of the extractor cups and includes a drive cam that drives the extractor cup into engagement with the other extractor cup. The drive mechanism includes a return cam for disengaging the extractor cup from the other extractor cup."

The inventor was issued U.S. Patent No. 7,328,655 on Feb. 12.

The patent has been assigned to FMC Technologies Inc., Chicago.
