Article: U Of I planning Financial Services Institute

Hoping to capitalize on the need for non-degree, continuing education programs in financial services, the University of Indianapolis has created the Financial Services Institute-an adjunct to its School of Adult Education.

University officials say the institute's certification programs and seminars will help employees and executives in the financial services industry-primarily in banking and insurance-brush up on their skills and follow new developments.

"We've got community banks and smaller banks that are running so lean they can't invest the time to build their own programs," said John Batey, associate dean of U of I's School for Adult Learning.
