EL Paso County issued the following news release: The Board of County Commissioners recently approved the Black Forest Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP). Black Forest's objectives include:

1. Provide guidance to community agencies and individuals that will reduce the risk to life and property due to wildfires.

2. Promote thinning and cleanup of slash

3. Establish and enhance fuel break buffer zones

4. Improve defensible space

5. Identify high-risk areas and recommend mitigation alternatives

6. Design and establish programs to increase public awareness of fire-related risks, remedies and advantages, and train homeowners about fire defensive methods.

7. Create a basis for grant ...
