Summary. A new species of Dracaena, D. kupensis, from Mt Kupe and the Bakossi Mts, Cameroon, is described and illustrated, its affinities noted and its conservation status assessed. Comparison is made between it and D. phanerophlebia Baker.

Introduction
Dracaena L. is placed traditionally in the family Dracaenaceae Salisbury, but it can be argued that it belongs in an expanded Ruscaceae Sprengel. Dracaena and Sansevieria Thunb. were classified in the Agavaceae by Cronquist (1981), alongside Agave L., Calibanus Rose, Cordyline Comm. ex R.
