Yes, you can control cedar and keep golden-cheeked warbler habitat. State agencies, U.S. Fish and Wildlife and environmental groups offer training so brush control operators and landowners can recognize a useful cedar tree.
Cedar can be controlled in many areas without destroying golden-checked warbler habitat. This was one of the primary themes of a brush control certification workshop conducted in Burnet County in 2007.
The workshop was primarily designed for brush control contractors but other interested parties attended.
