The Nordic countries are in the forefront in urging the rest of the world to increase efforts to reach the 2015 deadline for achieving the U.N.'s Millennium Development Goals.
IN SEPTEMBER 2000, THE WORLD COMMUNITY GATHERED AT the United Nations in New York ushered in the new millennium by endorsing the Millennium Declaration. In all, 189 countries signed this august proclamation, collectively agreeing to work towards achieving eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015.
