WASHINGTON, March 1 -- Rep. Howard L. Berman, D-California, has introduced the Tom Lantos and Henry J. Hyde United States Global Leadership Against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria Reauthorization Act of 2008 (H.R. 5501), legislation that would "authorize appropriations for fiscal years 2009 through 2013 to provide assistance to foreign countries to combat HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria."
The bill, introduced on Feb. 27, was co-sponsored by Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Florida; Donald M. Payne, D-New Jersey; Barbara Lee, D-California; Henry Waxman, D-California; and Sheila Jackson-Lee, D-Texas. It was referred to the House Foreign Affairs Committee and ...
