Gov. Matt Blunt, R-Mo., issued the following press release:
Gov. Matt Blunt signed executive order 08-09 creating the Missouri Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission to commemorate the bravery and sacrifices Missourians made during the Civil War.
"We are creating this commission as a remembrance and memorial to the many men and women who helped shape our nation during the Civil War," Gov. Blunt said. "This was a critical time in our state and nation's history and it is important to study and commemorate."
