Gov. Bobby Jindal, R-La., issued the following news release:
Today, Governor Bobby Jindal signed four more bills passed by the legislature in the ethics reform special session into law. Jindal signed HB 65, SB 11, SB 14 and SB 35 today, and will continue to sign additional ethics reform bills in the coming days.
BACKGROUND ON BILLS SIGNED INTO LAW:
HB65: Prohibits candidates with outstanding ethics fines from qualifying as a candidate for elected office.
With the adoption of HB65, those who violate ethics laws and are in default will no longer be able to run for elected office until those fines are paid.
SB11: Significantly enhances transparency in lobbyist activities.
