On February 19, Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown announced that 46-year-old Barbara Sheehan has been arraigned on second-degree murder and other charges in the death of her husband, a retired New York City police sergeant, who was shot just after twelve noon on the previous day, inside their Howard Beach residence.
District Attorney Brown said, "This is a terribly sad and tragic case of apparent marital discord that has left two children to grapple with the fact that not only did their father's life end in violence but that their mother has been charged in his death."
