I'll let you in on a little secret here. When I was a kid, I was a huge stats geek when it came to sports.

At the drop of a hat, I could rattle off the stats of just about any notable player in the NHL or major league baseball.

More than a decade in the mathematically challenged business of journalism has dulled those skills, but with Brayden Schenn, 16, trying to become the first rookie to lead the Brandon Wheat Kings in scoring since Ron Chipperfield in 1970-71, and Schenn and linemates Matt Calvert and Scott Glennie drawing comparisons to outstanding rookies of years past, I have decided now is the time to unleash my inner nerd to try to find their place in history.
