Mahatma Gandhi started the Satyagraha movement - "the firmness of the force of truth" - on 11th September 1906 and to commemorate the centenary of the movement, the Indian National Congress convened an International Conference on "Peace, Non-violence and Empowerment Gandhian Philosophy in the 21st Century", in New Delhi on 29-30 January 2007.
